Good news, Future Fans!
Bad Bat Books are pleased to announce that we're publishing our first novel - The Future Boys by Steve Jordan - on December 16th! It's currently available to pre-order for Kindle now!
Here's some words from Steve about the novel, and what you should expect from it.
"It will tell the story of the entire Future Boys saga (except Empire of Monsters, which is definitely its own thing). I’m re-telling the three original theatre productions - Dead Static, Pilgrim Shadow and King Chaos - plus the two audio episodes, and the stories of what would have been the other four episodes of the audio series - to make one glorious package."
"So it’s effectively 6 hours of script, fleshed out into a novel with some extra bits to bring it all together, comprised of essentially two mini-books – the story of the plays, and the story of the audio series. This is something I’ve thought about for a while, but as the funding for the rest of the audio series didn’t materialize, I’ve gone for what I feel is the best option to tell the stories. It would be great to do an audio book of it too with the audio series cast at some point, time allowing."
A paperback version will also be released in 2020, along with a paperback of Empire of Monsters - a previous Future Boys publication that we released in 2018.
Join Tyler and Gary on an epic adventure across the solar system - treasure hunting on Proteus, taking on an evil empire, and a series of perilous, ludicrous heists. The future of the galaxy is at stake - will they screw it up like everything else?
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign at the beginning of 2017, the first 2 episodes of 'The Future Boys' are available now!
Listen on SoundCloud, or YouTube.
Once again, we’d like to thank our amazingly generous backers for bringing this project to life. This wouldn’t have been possible without you.
Having spent two years apart and taken up new identities, Tyler and Gary are unwittingly brought back together by Rik Sheringham, a galaxy-renowned treasure hunter, celebrity and old school friend/enemy of Tyler's. Sheringham's deal is simple - Tyler and Gary must undergo a series of daring and dangerous heists on his behalf, or be handed over to the authorities and forced to face the death sentence that has been looming over their heads for years. Can Tyler and Gary re-unite and stay on the same page long enough to complete the job? Or are they doomed to fail? Either way, there seems to be more to the jobs than a simple robbery, and Sheringham's intentions may not be all they seem...
Here's some selected praise from the plays - Dead Static (2012), Pilgrim Shadow (2013/4), and King Chaos (2015).
'Bad Bat have established themselves as seriously hot talent in sci-fi comedy and will surely continue to capitalise on that well-earned reputation.' - Views from the Gods, reviewing King Chaos (★★★★).
'The makings of a classic series.' – Snipe London, reviewing Dead Static.
'Writer, producer and director, Steve Jordan has created a wonderfully silly and comic sci-fi universe that, with all its nods and winks to other works, stands very much on its own two feet.' - Camden Fringe Voyeur, reviewing King Chaos.
'The entire hour of the play is joke after joke so there is very little pause between laughs... would make a great television show (Blackadder meets Dr Who) with its fun-filled adventures...' - A Younger Theatre, reviewing King Chaos.
'Any time spent with these characters is a joy.' - Views from the Gods, reviewing Pilgrim Shadow (★★★★).
'Exciting and hilarious science fiction…' - Remote Goat, reviewing Pilgrim Shadow (★★★★).
